Biography
I am an infectious disease epidemiologist.
My interests are in tuberculosis (TB) research and the use of data to promote evidence-based decision making and health equity. I lead a project on the use of data and analytics in setting health priorities in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). I also work on model development for evaluating the impact of contact tracing and preventive therapy interventions against the spread of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). MDR-TB is TB resistant to (at least) isoniazid and rifampin, the two most potent anti-TB drugs, and is a major global health concern.
Towards health equity, I am also been involved in various efforts to strengthen analytics capacity in LMICs. One of such is the UGHE (University of Global Health Equity, Rwanda)/Harvard training course in mathematical modeling of infectious disease transmission which trained public health leaders in East Africa to competently use data to respond to emerging disease threats.
